What’s new in Dynamics 365 Sales & Marketing in the 2023 release wave 1

Dynamics 365 Sales is a powerful solution that combines the power of sales force automation with AI-driven insights to enable smarter selling and improve conversion rates. Dynamics 365 Marketing is a marketing automation tool that enables organizations to build targeted campaigns, track and nurture prospects, and successfully transition leads to sales. Many businesses utilize both of these systems together for unified marketing and sales processes.

As with all Dynamics 365 products, Microsoft releases two waves of new features and updates per year. In this post, we will highlight the top new features for Dynamics 365 Sales and Dynamics 365 Marketing in the 2023 release wave 1.

Dynamics 365 Sales

New pipeline view for managing opportunities

In the 2023 release wave 1 of Dynamics 365 Sales, Microsoft enhances the Deal Manager with a new opportunity view with an intuitive experience for managing opportunities in a single workspace. This new view eliminates many processes that sellers would normally have to do to manage opportunities and streamlines everything into a single workspace. Sellers will be able to easily uncover deals that need attention right away. Additionally, the workspace can be customized to meet the unique needs of each seller.

With this new feature, sellers will be able to:

  • Organize opportunities in the way that works for them
  • Personalize views
  • Update information quickly using the editable grid and side-panel
  • Add notes and tasks
  • See aggregations of metrics such as pipeline value and number of deals in the pipeline

Forecasting updates and enhancements

In this release, Microsoft added additional features and enhancements to sales forecasting in Dynamics 365 Sales. First, users will now be able to configure forecasts for multiple business units. This means that companies with multiple business units can define different forecasts for each unit to track, monitor, and unlock insights to understand how each business unit is performing.

Additionally, in September 2023, Microsoft will release enhancements that enable sellers to create forecasts with a weekly or annual recurrence. Today, users can only configure monthly or quarterly forecast periods. With this new feature, organizations will be able to track their sales objectives at the interval that best fits their needs so they can forecast accordingly.

Sellers will see the suggestion surface and can decide to act or dismiss it.

For example, suggestions can include:
