Steps

1. Review your existing Chart of Accounts (and/or Classifications) and confirm that no External IDs currently exist
   • Create an Account/Classification Saved Search and add “External ID” as a Result

• Confirm that no External IDs currently exist

2. Create an import template and upload External IDs to your Accounts/Classifications
   • Select the appropriate Import Type and Record Type for your file

• Select “Update” as your Import Option if updating existing records

• Map Internal ID to indicate which records are being updated and map External ID to populate your provided values

3. Confirm External IDs were loaded successfully from the previously created Saved Search

4. You can now reference the External IDs in your CSV imports moving forward instead of the long/full display name
   • Provide the External IDs in your import files (for JEs, as an example) and map that column field to the Account/Classification within NetSuite
   • Click on the pencil “Edit” icon for every field you are providing as an External ID instead of the name

• Select Reference Type “External ID” and select “OK”

• Import your transactions!
