Houston, Texas – April 17, 2013 – The first ever Cowtown Code Camp took place in Fort Worth, Texas and has been reported a huge success.
With 25 development sessions over the course of the day, participants joined together to learn from leading industry experts and share professional discourse in a number of areas. With session tracks on Architecture, Game, Mobile, Web and Windows 8, the Cowtown Code Camp sessions covered a wide range of topics that are pertinent in today’s technical world. From talks dedicated to leveraging new API’s for easier development, to creating next generation mobile apps, Cowtown Code Camp offered something for everyone. Microsoft also hosted a Lounge area, where they answered developer questions about the Microsoft Stack and the Window’s Store, and demonstrated development for Windows 8.
Over 100 people attended the event, sponsored by and held at the home office of Pier1 Imports, on March 16, 2013. Houston based Rand Group participated by offering up a Microsoft Surface RT tablet for a prize draw, while Teresa Burger – a Microsoft MVP and Manager at Rand Group – helped organize and facilitate the event.
“The event was a huge success,” says Burger, “With over 100 people in attendance, and 25 amazing sessions, I believe there was a lot of value to be taken from the Cowtown Code Camp. At the end of the event, all the participants seemed happy with their sessions and were asking for more. We’re already planning for 2014 and that event will be much bigger, and offer a more extensive breadth of learning opportunities. It was a great way to connect with local peers, and share not only experience but ideas as well,” concludes Burger.
Rand Group is a huge supporter of the local community in Texas, as well as the development and nurturing of local technical talent. This event presented an opportunity for Rand Group not only to help facilitate professional learning, but also to help cultivate the next generation of coders. Rand Group was also excited to contribute a sleek new Surface RT from Microsoft as a giveaway, knowing that tablet computing is quickly becoming the predominant way people access and use information.
