The acquisition of RehabCare, a company providing rehabilitation services in hospitals and clinics, brought a number of challenges for Kindred. RehabCare had about 13,000 therapists working at more than 1,300 nursing facilities and 300 hospitals. Communication with these employees was a challenge because they did not work from the RehabCare office.
