Dynamics 365 Business Central Tip of the Month: Collaborate seamlessly by integrating Business Central with Teams

Microsoft Teams and D365 Business Central integration overview

The D365 Business Central app for Teams offers the following features:

  • Look up details of customers, vendors, and other contacts – From Teams you can look up details on contacts in your system providing general contact information as well as communication history, related documents, and more.

  • Share records in conversations – Copy a link to any D365 Business Central record and paste it into a Teams conversation to share with your coworkers. The app will then expand the link into a compact, interactive card that displays information about the record.

  • Share links from pages in Business Central to Teams – Directly from most collection and details pages in D365 Business Central, you can use the Share to Teams action from the Share menu icon to type a message, choose recipients, such as team members, groups or channels, and send the message with a link and to the Business Central page.

  • Add a Business Central tab to Teams channel or chat – With the D365 Business Central app for Teams installed, you can add a tab in a channel or chat that shows Business Central data from lists and card pages.

Install the D365 Business Central app for Teams

Prerequisites

  • A Business Central online user account is required for Business Central app for Teams.
  • If you’re not sure whether you have an account, or if you don’t know your credentials for signing in, contact your company administrator to help you get started.
  • Access to the Teams desktop app or Teams in the browser. You can’t install the Business Central by using Teams mobile app.
  • Confirm your organization’s policies allow you to install apps in Microsoft Teams.

Add the D365 Business Central app to Teams

From Teams:

  1. Open and sign in to Teams.
  2. In the left side, select Apps.
  3. Search for Business Central.
  4. Choose the app when you find it.
  5. Choose Add.

From D365 Business Central:

  1. Open D365 Business Central.
  2. Choose the magnifying glass icon that opens the Tell Me feature. Enter Get the Business Central app for Teams, and then choose the related link.
  3. Choose Get the app from store.
  4. Wait for Teams to open and the D365 Business Central app to appear, then choose Add.
