Sage 100 Tip of the Month: Restoring the Modules and Task Panel
Have you ever launched Sage 100 only to find that the Modules & Tasks panel has vanished from your Business Desktop? It’s easy to panic, especially if you rely on that panel for navigation. But before contacting support or reinstalling anything, there’s a simpler fix. This Sage 100 tip of the month blog walks you through how to restore the Modules & Tasks panel so your users can quickly get back to business without down-time disruptions.
Tip: How to restore the Modules & Tasks Panel in Sage 100
If the Modules & Tasks panel goes missing in Sage 100, you can restore it by adjusting your view settings in Library Master. If that doesn’t work, the fallback is a registry tweak under the user’s Windows profile to force the docking of the panel. Use the steps below carefully, especially the registry edits, which carry risk if done incorrectly.
Step 1: Verify view settings in Sage 100
- Open the Library Master module.
- Go to the View tab.
- From the drop-down:
- Ensure Detail View is checked.
- Ensure Show Tasks is checked.
- Make sure Auto Hide Tasks is not selected. If there’s a check mark next to it, click to remove it.
If after these steps the Modules & Tasks panel returns, you’re done. If not, move to Step 2.
Step 2: (If needed) Edit the Windows registry setting
Caution: Modifying the registry can have serious consequences if done improperly. Always back up the registry and proceed only if comfortable or with IT’s assistance.
- From Windows, open Start → Run, and type regedit to launch the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to the following key, depending on your version:
- For Sage 100 / MAS 90 / MAS 200 4.10 and higher: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sage Software\MAS 90 Business Desktop\Docking
- For earlier versions (MAS 90 / Sage 200 4.0x): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Best\MAS 90 Business Desktop\Docking
- Within that “Docking” branch, find the value named Docked.
- Right-click Docked → Modify, and set the Value data to 1.
- Close the Registry Editor.
- Restart Sage 100 and check whether the Modules & Tasks panel now appears.
If it still doesn’t appear, double-check that the registry change saved properly and that the user account has the correct permissions to read that registry path.
Note: These instructions pertain to running the Sage 100 launcher in Classic mode.
