Discover what’s new in Dynamics GP in October 2022

Microsoft Dynamics GP is a trusted and standalone enterprise resource planning (ERP) that includes everything you need to run your business. For users on the Modern Lifecycle of Dynamics GP, version 18.5 of Dynamics GP was released in October 2022. In this post we will highlight key feature updates that were made in the October 2022 release of GP.

Print 1099-NEC forms with lines

With the October 2022 release, you are now able to print a 1099 Nonemployee Compensation (NEC) form with boxes/lines on blank paper, similar to how you can print payroll W-2s. This new feature makes it easier to print the form correctly and verify 1099-NEC information.

To print the 1099-NEC form with boxes and lines, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Purchasing >> Routines >> Print 1099
  2. Enter the current year in the 1099 Year field
  3. Under Form Type, select One Wide with Box
  4. Add the remaining information in this window and select Print Forms File

Print and email cash receipts

As a long-awaited feature, Dynamics GP users are now able to print out a copy of their customer’s cash receipt and email a copy of a customer’s payment to them. Included in this release is a new report available for users to print or email cash receipts to customers. To activate this feature, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Sales Area page
  2. Under Setup select E-mail Settings
  3. In the Sales E-mail Setup window, you will see the new option for Cash Receipt
  4. Select Customer Setup to launch the Customers Navigation List and mass update your customers for this feature

Inactivate vendor address records

In the new update, you will now be able to inactivate a vendor address record. This new feature is important as sending documents to the wrong address can be detrimental. Address codes can be used for payments, shipping, and 1099 forms, so having the ability to inactivate a vendor address provides many benefits. Once a vendor address is inactivated, users will receive a warning that the address is inactive when attempting to use the address. Then, the user can choose to continue with the inactivated address or select a new one.

Print & email POP documents at the same time

Users can now both print and email Purchase Order Processing Documents at the same time. Previously, users would have had to print a document or a range of documents. Then, once the printing process was complete, the user would have to go back into the system and reselect the documents to email them. In the Dynamics GP October 2022 release, users can save time by printing and emailing purchase orders in one process.

Summary display in bank reconciliation for EFT

Microsoft has implemented new features in Dynamics GP to save time on bank reconciliation for electronic transfer of money (EFT) payments. Dynamics GP users are now able to see an EFT batch summary in bank reconciliations instead of in individual payments. Users can then drill into EFT batch summary to see the individual payments.

Workflow updates

There are several workflow updates included in this release of Dynamics GP. The features below were included in this release:

  • Auto post workflow for complete end-to-end process – Microsoft enhanced the feature added in 18.4 Workflow Automation for Workflow Batches. In this release, the option to automatically post approved workflows for the payables batches, general ledger batches, and receivables management batches will be available in the Workflow Maintenance window. Previously this option was only available when approving workflow tasks within the Dynamics GP client.
  • Workflow “no approval needed” steps in history – This new feature allows users to not store “No Approval Needed” steps in history. Users can toggle per workflow whether they want your workflow to record and display steps that do not require approval.

New time option to schedule check links

Microsoft has added functionality to be able to run Check Links on a schedule during off-peak times or overnight. Previously, check links would run when selected. With this new functionality, users can specify the start time that the reports and tasks will be run.
