Automatically post cost to the general ledger

Automatic cost posting ensures cost is posted to the general ledger whenever an inventory transaction is posted, and easily adjust for any cost changes. Specify a default costing method to govern how incoming cost is used to assess inventory value and the cost of goods sold.

Utilize both assembly and production BOMs

Use assembly orders for simpler assembly processes that do not require extensive amounts of resources and do not use machine resources at all, and use production orders for more complex processes that use production routing and machines or work centers.

Enable flushing of components according to operation output

You can define different flushing strategies to automate registering of consumption of components, which is useful for inventory valuation, inventory availability, minimizing waste, and reducing data entry. Automatic consumption flushing methods include forward flush the entire order or by operation and back flush the entire order or by operation.

Set up machine centers

Manage capacity for each machine or production resource on a detailed level for machine centers, and on a consolidated level for work centers. Use machine centers to store default information about manufacturing processes, such as setup times and default scrap percentages.

Define shop and business calendars

Specify the working days and hours, shifts, holidays, and absences that determine a work center’s gross available capacity. Assign a base calendar to your company and its business partners, such as customers, vendors, or locations, so that delivery and receipt dates on future sales orders, purchase orders, transfer orders, and production order lines are calculated according to the calendar’s specified working days.

Improve supplier engagement

Build better relationships with your suppliers and convert the best offers into orders. Manage multiple discounts that you have negotiated with vendors, including item specific, order level, and quantity discounts to ensure you always get the best price.

Get a holistic view of inventory

Use the same costing method or different ones for inventory items and always have an accurate valuation of your inventory. Quickly move items between locations or within warehouses, and count, adjust, and reclassify inventory for accurate and reliable inventory tracking.

Organize your warehouse with bins

Set up and maintain bins by defining both the layout of your warehouse and the dimensions of your racks, columns, and shelves. Use item journals to assign bins directly on document lines and give input to planning by defining characteristics for bins.

Inventory pick and inventory put away

Create pick lists from released sales orders and put away work from released purchase orders, and manage both without opening sales and purchase orders when handling shipments. Manage receipts and warehouse shipments from a separate interface in a multi-order environment.

Configure a warehouse management system

Create warehouse instruction documents for pick and put away processes for sales, purchases, transfers, returns, and production orders. Move times between bins using a report that optimizes the picking process and the use of space or move items manually.
