D365 Finance & Operations Tip of the Month: Navigate faster with Favorites & Recent

By on February 4, 2026

In Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (F&SCM), efficiency often comes down to how quickly you can get where you need to go. But if you’re repeatedly drilling through the hamburger menu to reach the same workspaces, pages, or forms, those extra clicks add up, especially when you’re multitasking or dealing with interruptions.

The good news? D365 F&SCM includes two simple, built-in navigation tools that can dramatically speed up your day-to-day work: Favorites and Recent. In this tip of the month, we highlight how using Favorites and Recent can help users navigate faster, reduce unnecessary clicks, and quickly return to the screens they use most.

Tip summary: Use Favorites & Recent to move faster through D365 F&SCM

Favorites and Recent are navigation shortcuts designed to help users move through D365 F&SCM more efficiently based on how they actually work.

  • Favorites allow you to bookmark the pages, forms, and workspaces you use most often.
  • Recent automatically tracks the last 10 pages you’ve visited, making it easy to jump back to where you were.

Together, these tools reduce menu navigation, support faster task switching, and help you quickly recover from interruptions or session timeouts.

What are Favorites and Recent?

Favorites

Favorites act as your personal shortcut list. By starring commonly used pages, forms, or workspaces, you can open them directly, no need to navigate through the full menu each time.

Key benefits of Favorites:

  • Fewer clicks for frequently used pages
  • Faster access to role-specific tasks
  • Personalized navigation based on how you work

Recent

Recent displays the last 10 pages you’ve visited in D365 F&SCM. This makes it easy to jump back and forth between screens or pick up right where you left off.

Key benefits of Recent:

  • Quick task switching between pages
  • Easy recovery after session timeouts
  • Ideal for research, troubleshooting, or multitasking

Steps:

How to use Favorites:

  1. Open the hamburger menu and navigate to the page, form, or workspace you use frequently.
  2. Select the ⭐ star icon next to the item’s name to add it to your Favorites.

Recents

Tip insight:

  • Favorites = “Where I go often.” Think of this as your personal shortcut menu.
  • Recent = “Where I just was.” Perfect for task switching and picking up where you left off.
  • Use both together to minimize navigation time throughout the day.

Why this tip matters

Faster navigation means less time clicking through menus and more time focused on meaningful work. Favorites and Recent reduce friction, support multitasking, and create a more personalized D365 F&SCM experience, no configuration required.
